The Democratic Republic of Congo second coin were issued under a new currency, the Zaire. The Zair was equal to 100 kuta, and 1 kuta is equal to 10 sengi.
These were minted in 1967 and consist of the
10 Sengi aluminium 0.7grams, 16.99mm, mintage 90.996 million. It features a leopard.
1 Likuta aluminium 1.25 grams, 21 mm, mintage 196.8 million. It features the coat of arms.
5 Makuta copper nickel, 6.5 grames, 25mm, mintage 50 million. It features Mobutu Sese Seko.
These coins would have circulated untill removed due to hyperinflation, which started due to economic mismanagement in the 1970s.
The Congo has never minted coins every year with dates of that year like the USA or Euro. Instead they mint the above coins with frozen dates over many years.
As for value. All these coins can be purchased for less than $5 in high grade.
